This chili is a great hearty meal that really satisfies. Be sure to weigh the meat cooked, not raw, as it loses a couple of ounces when cooked.
This recipe is sugar-free flour-free. It contains no sugar no flour and low carbohydrates.
2 oz Ground Beef or Turkey
1/2 C each Chopped Onions, Bell Pepper
1 Cup Chopped canned tomatoes, + 1/2 C tomato sauce
1 Clove Minced Garlic
1 -2 tsp Oil + Pam cooking spray if needed
4 oz Kidney Beans
Ground Cumin & Crushed Red Pepper
Brown meat and weigh to 8 oz. Heat oil in non-stick Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onions, bell pepper & garlic and saute until crisp-tender. Add salt, chili powder, cumin & crushed red pepper and cook for one minute, stirring frequently. Add cooked meat and stir. Add tomato sauce and beef broth. Bring to boil, reduce heat to low; cover and simmer for one hour. Add kidney beans and simmer for an additional hour.
Great with either salad or sauteed jicama, seasoned with garlic salt and paprika.
